Chapter 2.6 – Adjustments

Welcome back to another chapter of Random Paths! In the last chapter Thomas Destansi thought he had caused the death of Eva Wallis only to find out it was a ploy to get her into witness protection. After thinking long and hard about it, he decided to accept the offer of going with her. And now on with the story.

The rest of the day was long and drawn out. It took some doing to get Thomas and Eva out of the house without causing too much of a scene. They had gone to the SBI office in Moonlight Falls. It was the safest location due to it being in the city with the highest proportion of occults to mundanes. There the SBI officers who crafted their new identities went over their identities with them. And they kept going over the identities for several hours.

Chapter 2.3 – Intimidation

Welcome back to another chapter of Random Paths! In the last chapter, Eva got three body guards to help her go to and from classes and really connected with Thomas Destansi, one of those guards. There was one known attempt at her life when they took down Samuel, but their lack of knowledge on the lab instructor proved the plan’s undoing. At the end of the chapter, the trial for Owen Maguire and the others from the SUA that had orchestrated the attack on her was about to start and Eva had gotten a phone call. And now on with the story.

Eva didn’t know the number but answered it anyway. It could be the prosecutor wanting to finalize her testimony since she was to be the first witness.

Chapter 1.9 – Grief

Welcome back to another chapter of Random Paths. In the last chapter Darius Myst and Rosalind Baines were dealt with. Darius was killed and Rosalind was turned human and arrested. The cost however was Kreia’s life and Ian Destansi’s vampire status. And now on with the story.

Zachariah was a bit taken aback when Wolfgang stood up and collapsed into his shoulder crying. But Zachariah couldn’t bring himself to push the kid off. Revan had been a close friend, or at least as close a friend as either Revan or Zachariah himself allowed. And now she was dead. And she was Wolfgang’s aunt. And try as he did to avoid it, Wolfgang had become a friend.

Chapter 1.6 – Accidents Happen

Welcome back to another chapter of Random Paths! In the last chapter Zachariah began to at least trust Wolfgang Rand, Brett and Kreia came to a compromise about when to start trying for a second child, and Kreia and Wolfgang got hit with a double whammy of bad news from home: Kreia’s half-brother Sion (Wolfgang’s uncle) got caught up in an apocalypse and Kreia’s mother (Wolfgang’s grandmother) passed away from old age. And now on with the story.

I better not be coming down with a stomach bug, Kreia thought after yet again having to interrupt her morning meeting to go puke. If she didn’t know any better, Kreia would have guessed she was pregnant. But she was on the pill currently. And Brett used a condom anyway most nights.

Chapter 1.5 – Stress

Welcome back to another chapter of Random Paths! In the last chapter, Revan’s cronies complicated matters between Revan and Wolfgang and it ended up with Wolfgang’s family being put into protective custody by the criminals of Storybrook County. And now on with the story.

Zachariah was impressed with Agent Rand. He initially thought the kid was put on the case because he was cocky in his skills and needed a dose of reality. Or simply because his grandfather was Sinbad Rand, Master Thief of Moonlight Falls and the leader of the mafia there. But the kid was good. In both senses of the word. His good nature rubbed Zachariah the wrong way a lot of the time. All of the time, actually. But the kid had rescued Annalise without getting her killed or injured too badly beyond what Darius’s men had already done before he arrived. Then he pulled in favors and got juicy information on what Darius was up to. He also just gritted his teeth and didn’t comment when criminal activities were being discussed. And at times, Zachariah glimpsed the same coldness that Revan had. It’s what Zachariah guessed made Revan so dangerous.

Chapter 1.4 – Protection

Welcome back to another chapter of Random Paths! In the last chapter Kreia gave birth to a girl named Miranda, Brett and Kreia argued about her career choice yet again, and an alliance between cops and crooks was proposed by Agent Wolfgang Rand, Kreia’s nephew. And now on with the story.

“Is it safe to come in, Revan?” a voice came in over Kreia’s ear piece.

“How many times do I have to tell you people to not interrupt me when I’m interrogating people!” Kreia yelled into her ear piece. She took her hand off of the speak button on her mic and said, “Sit down with your hands behind your back. Just sit on the rope. One of my higher underlings who usually has a good reason for interrupting was the one who spoke on the intercom. I should probably see what he wants. And remember that I’m Revan. Not your Aunt Kreia. Respond to what I say appropriately.”
