I have not fallen off the map. Just a number of things have happened that have led me to just officially declare this story (and its spin offs) as on hiatus. Continue reading

Chapter 2.10: New Kid

Welcome back to another chapter of Random Paths! In the last chapter Eva and Thomas got a new control agent due to the war and it turned out to be their best friend Paul Reynolds. Shortly afterward, Eva gave birth to twins Elliot and Olivia. As they grew up, Elliot showed that he had his grandfather’s insanity and Olivia showed she had her great uncle’s musical talent. And now on with the story.

Elliot and Olivia had gone to school early. Or well, they were on school grounds early. Their home didn’t have a yard big enough for playground equipment and the principal said as long as they didn’t break anything, they could play on the school equipment. Their parents had to sign a waiver though for the after school use of it though.

“Hi,” a girl suddenly said, “Does your mom work here, too?”

“No. We just live across the street. I’m Elliot. That’s my twin sis Olivia. You are?”

“Caroline. Caroline DeLange. What’s your last name?”

“Riker,” Olivia said, “Why do you come in with your mom?”

“No one else at home. My dad’s off protecting the country. What about you guys? Any of your family off protecting the country?”

“No,” Elliot said.

“Oh,” Caroline said, kicking the ground.

“What grade are you in?” Elliot asked, changing the subject.

“Second,” Caroline said, “You guys?”

“Second. Teacher?” Elliot said.

“Mr. Cooper.”

“Same for me and Olivia. Let’s be friends!” Elliot said and held out his hand for Caroline to shake.

Caroline shook it. Continue reading

Chapter 2.9 – Change

Welcome back to another chapter of Random Paths! In the last chapter, Eva and Thomas had some trouble getting pregnant, but after a discussion with their doctor and a silent one between them they decided on fertility treatment and Eva soon found herself pregnant. And at the end of the chapter, the SUA declared war on Sim Nation. And now on with the story.

Agent Roberts was able to get in touch with enough of Eva’s relatives to make sure they were safe. They were and he even checked on Thomas’ relatives and found they were just fine as well. It definitely relaxed Eva some, but they were still on edge. The war was not going quickly and it seemed that the SUA was winning.

A draft had been put into place since they needed more soldiers than they had volunteers. Eva and Thomas were told that they were exempt due to the reason behind their being put into witness protection, though they both still had to go through the motions to not arouse suspicion.

It did seem that they were pulling from law enforcement more than anything at the moment and Eva couldn’t help but be thankful that her cousin was probably too old for being in the military. Continue reading

Chapter 2.8 – Love and War

Welcome back to another chapter of Random Paths! In the last chapter Eva had a hard time getting past what had happened her to on the first anniversary of the event since she went into witness protection. It didn’t help that Thomas had forgotten that due to his own troubles. And now on with the story!

A few months went by. Paul soon asked Renee out after Thomas and Eva started dating. The two couples would go on double dates fairly often.

It was after one such date when Thomas asked Eva a question, “So. Our wedding. Do we want a ceremony or do we just want to go to the court house and sign paperwork? Paul and Renee will ask questions we can’t answer. And who would give you away?” Continue reading

Chapter 2.7 – Anniversary

Welcome back to another chapter of Random Paths! In the last chapter, Eva and Thomas settled into their lives as Allison O’Neill and Malcolm Riker. They quickly made friends with a few others in their apartment complex. At the very end of the chapter, Eva proposed to Thomas and Thomas agreed. The pair did however agree to fake dating as to not cause any problems with their friends. And now on with the story.

It was a month or so after the pair started officially dating, that the honeymoon phase of their relationship, at least this stage of it, was over. “We haven’t gone out in a week, Eva!” Thomas yelled. Continue reading

Chapter 2.6 – Adjustments

Welcome back to another chapter of Random Paths! In the last chapter Thomas Destansi thought he had caused the death of Eva Wallis only to find out it was a ploy to get her into witness protection. After thinking long and hard about it, he decided to accept the offer of going with her. And now on with the story.

The rest of the day was long and drawn out. It took some doing to get Thomas and Eva out of the house without causing too much of a scene. They had gone to the SBI office in Moonlight Falls. It was the safest location due to it being in the city with the highest proportion of occults to mundanes. There the SBI officers who crafted their new identities went over their identities with them. And they kept going over the identities for several hours.
